Erdoğan reiterated “pious generation” dream and connected the solution of social problems to religion

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed Ankara University Faculty of Theology’s Seventieth Anniversary Celebration Ceremony. Erdoğan reiterated his dream of raising a pious generation in his speech here.

Stating that theology graduates were reluctant to become teachers, President Erdoğan said, “Unfortunately, we are having difficulty finding teachers. For some reason, theology graduates do not strive to become teachers. They do not make the effort to become teachers and I know that just now Quran lessons at many religious vocational high schools are going untaught. I would not be lying if I said there are no teachers for the Religious Culture and Morality course.”

REITERATING HIS DREAM OF A “PIOUS GENERATION,” HE ASSERTED THAT SOCIAL PROBLEMS WOULD BE SOLVED THROUGH RELIGION

Once more voicing his dream of a pious youth, Erdoğan suggested that social problems would be solved through religion by saying, “With God’s will, a pious youth and a pious generation will be raised in your hands. If we succeed in this, we will not then with God’s permission see addicts and thieves in town centres, on streets and in markets, or we will minimize them. We will not see alcoholics. Why? Because a pious youth will know that alcohol is canonically forbidden. They will thus not stray in that direction. With steps taken in these matters, it is my belief that in a country in which there is a pious generation all moral values will instantaneously take a huge upswing and a nation will come into being that loves one another, not out of interest or for office or position, but for God.”

Saying negative campaigns were being waged against religious vocational high schools, President Erdoğan alleged that there was no difference between religious vocational high schools and other high schools.

ERDOĞAN SPEAKS OF BAGHDADI’S WIFE BEING APPREHENDED

Later in his speech, President Erdoğan said ISIS leader Baghdadi’s wife had been apprehended. Erdoğdan noted, “America, saying ‘Baghdadi destroyed himself in a tunnel,’ started what they deemed to be a very serious communications campaign. And we apprehended his wife but, you see, we did not make a hue and cry. I am announcing this now, for the first time, today.” Erdoğan additionally said that Baghdadi’s sister and brother-in-law had also been apprehended. (EVRENSEL DAILY)
