Our colleague, who opened her eyes in the hotel room hounded by the stranger, called the hotel staff and 155 for help and informed the police, but she did not receive any help. No preventive or protective measures were taken to protect her, and on the contrary, they all tried to close the case. The staff of the hotel, others in the lobby and the police officers on duty presented a very informal approach, and they even offered to reconcile as if there was resentment between the two.”

"YOU CAN'T MAKE PEACE WITH WOMEN ABUSERS!"

In the statement, which stated that the duty of the law enforcement officers is not to reconcile women with the abusers, but to initiate the necessary legal investigations against the abusers by taking the measures specified in the laws, the following statements were made:
“Our collogue shared the incident with the public in detail on her social media account, initiated the necessary legal process and made his complaints to the relevant authorities. The only perpetrator of this attack and harassment against our friend is not the individual S.M.S, but also the hotel officials and officials who do not approach the incident with the necessary seriousness, others in the lobby, and of course, the police officers who came to the scene after a woman's call for help and did not fulfil their duties. Carmina Hotel management, must its employees be held accountable for their negligence who didn’t ensure the safety of the guests staying in the hotel and watched while perpetrators entered their rooms and everyone who is involved in this crime by staying silent should be punished especially S.MS the perpetrator.”

In many cases of harassment and violence against women, law enforcement officers who do not take the necessary protection orders and precautions despite being specified in the law, also took the same approach in this incident. “EMO Ankara Branch Board Member condemns this attack and harassment against our female collogue Kardelen Kamışlı.
