There lived a Sarah Everard in England!

Being exploited, oppressed and being killed by their close ones has nothing to do with being in Turkey, England or America! Women everywhere are pushed into living the same fate.

England. The country referred to as the “cradle of democracy”. And it’s capital London. The greenest city in the world. As they say, “72 nations”, in London it is possible there are more.

There are those in London who live well. And those who have been doomed to the worst. There are many homeless people in this city. Come rain or shine, they search for shelter to get by. Death rates are high.

Britain used to be a "welfare state" for fear of socialism. In addition to the influence of the example of the USSR, including England, the monopolies in the world, who were afraid that the struggle for socialism would "seduce" its workers, made concessions and had to give a number of rights. Now, the government has gone as far as trying to take back the £20 monthly increase made on Universal Credit due to the pandemic, which is already the lowest possible benefit. The Labour party criticized scarcely.

Even though seen no more than just an ornament, the state has a queen. A woman. The prime minister was also a woman here once: Margaret Thatcher. Known and referred to as the “Iron Lady”. She was one of the "inventors" of neoliberal policies.

Another woman lived in London. In Clapham Common. She was last heard from at 21:30 on the 3rd of March when she rang her friend and told him she was walking home. She was never heard from again. She was 33 years old. Her body was found a week later in a woodland.

The perpetrator was a Metropolitan Police. He kidnapped Sarah. He worked as "security" for the Parliament!

Britain is a so-called democratic country. And a "security guard" killed Sarah. A cop. Yes, the police are the same everywhere. In the USA, 3 policemen killed George Floyd by kneeling on his neck and preventing him from breathing. Later in England, a police officer killed a black man, again in the same way. Now Sarah. A woman. Moreover, a white woman.

Not only the patriarchy, but also capitalism sees death fit for women. Men are killed too of course. In this country, conflict and quarrels are everywhere. But women killed by male relatives, and especially the police, just like it is in Turkey, is also a reality in the UK. There have been 1425 murders of women in England in the last decade. And now the Interior Minister is also a woman: Priti Patel!

Violence against women and femicide are not just the reality of England. Take the USA. According to the OECD, the USA comes second following Turkey on violence against women. 38% of women in Turkey have been subjected to violence by men. In the USA, the percentage is a very close 36%. 238 women were killed in this country in 2018. Brazil is worse: 1314 women were murdered in 2019. Six women are killed every hour around the world.

Prevention? It’s all just talk. There is more. In Turkey, the Istanbul Convention, which was put in place to protect women who are subjected to violence by men, is now trying to be removed. “The Human Rights Action Plan” has been announced! Either women are not counted as the rightful people, or the "Plan" does not include them because they are required to be attached to a man and to their home!

According to the World Economic Forum's 2020 Global Gender Gap report, Turkey ranks 130 among 153 countries. There are Saudis following it. However, even where women are included in social life and women are prime ministers, in capitalism, women's rights and women's lives are left in the hands of God!

Women in Britain, after all their efforts, gained the right to vote in 1920. In 1944 in France. In Switzerland -hold tight- in 1971!

Women, who struggled with many barriers to participate in political life, are the first victims of the crisis of capitalism. In the pandemic, for example, even in the most developed capitalist countries women were the first to lose their jobs. The burden of taking work home also falls mostly on women. All topped off by the house work and caring for those in their household.

Being exploited, oppressed and being killed by their close ones has nothing to do with being in Turkey, England or America! Women everywhere are pushed into living the same fate. Turkey, not having been through a democratic revolution, with its regime of going backwards is amongst the worst, but England is not in a far better condition than this. The government is making propaganda that "women should not go out on the streets at night". The protests of Sarah's murder are being banned.

However, women are not obeying anymore. Neither in Turkey nor in England!
