Within the scope of the fight against the pandemic, 17-day restrictions announced by Erdogan as "complete closure" started on Thursday.

Since the early days of the pandemic, it seems to be fulfilling the "complete closure" request, which the scientific circles have defended as the most effective measure in this struggle. In reality, it is a "Complete closure" that is thrown into the minds of every environment, especially the scientific circles, who really wanted a clousre.

We were faced with a practice of "Total Closure", which is unprecedented in any other country, where millions of workers and laborers in 42 sectors (16 million according to the research of DISK) continue to work. No real support is provided to the closed workplaces and their employees. From day one, "How is this a complete closure?" has been brought to the mind.

Especially, the fact that no sane person could establish the link to the spread of the virus, imposing a "ban on the sale of liquor in monopoly dealers during the shutdown" made the credibility of the ruling's decisions and bans even more controversial.

IF 16 MILLION EMPLOYEES WORK IN 42 SECTORS, WILL IT BE A 'FULL CLOSURE'?

Erdogan's rule since the beginning of the pandemic, adopted the strategy of turning the pandemic into an opportunity to crush the opposition to the working class, the people, and to crush the bills for the destruction caused by the economic crisis and the pandemic. He tried to legitimize this attitude by highlighting the "obligation to spin the wheels of the economy" and "We will be one of the few countries that survived the pandemic".

One man rule for the past 14 months. He did not hesitate to dilute the measures regarding the struggle against the pandemic, to use the penalties and prohibitions for the people, and the privileges for the capital and its supporters.

The government succeeded in "not achieving" its declared goals in all matters concerning public health in the fight against the pandemic, from "mask distribution" to "vaccine supply". Law, custom, political morality ... did not recognize any obstacles when it comes to the interests of capital and its own political aims!

For the sake of capital's interests even in these days, which they proclaim as "complete closure", while 42 sectors are exempt from prohibitions and restrictions, 16 million workers and laborers in factories, being forced to work in workshops, construction sites, logistics, transportation, banks, ... also shows that the government knows no limits in using the pandemic in favor of capital.

WHAT IS THE GOAL OF COMPLETE CLOSURE ACCORDING TO ERDOĞAN?

As a matter of fact, President Erdogan, who appeared in front of the cameras after the cabinet meeting on Monday, had clearly spelled out both the rationale and the goal of the "complete closure".

Erdogan's justification, in summary: "It would be a disaster for the economy if we remain a country of such high incidents as the tourism season begins and the opening in Europe has begun."

Erdogan's goal in "complete closure" is "to reduce the number of cases to less than 5 thousand".

As a matter of fact, Health Minister Koca, who spoke in Antalya the previous day, said that the cases had decreased from 60 thousand to less than 40 thousand in the last week and that the "target" would be reached at the end of the closure.

We understand from this that regardless of the data in the field, we will see that the number of cases in the turquoise table drops below 5,000 at the end of the 17-day closure!

Thus, a new "Controlled opening" will be announced from the beginning of June. If the vaccines that Minister Koca and Erdogan called are brought in in May and June and a portion of the population (60 million people) cannot be vaccinated to ensure mass immunity, it will be inevitable that we will experience a new "peak" in October-November, just like last year.

‘WHAT DOES THE ALCOHOL PROHIBITION GOT TO DO WITH THE PANDEMIC?

The answer to the question in the subtitle is, of course, that "the prohibition of the sale of liquor has nothing to do with the pandemic". Scientists say.

As a matter of fact, those who put this prohibition cannot defend because "We put the ban", and they cannot say that the ban has anything to do with the spread of the pandemic.

Could the ban be a move in order to get other things dropped from the agenda? Like, ‘where is the 128 million dolars?​’.

This question may have a reality, and power may have such an aim. But given the conditions we are going through, even if there is such an expectation, this may be a "bonus" besides the main purpose! Because here the main purpose of the power; It would be a more realistic approach to say that it is to renew the alliance with Salafi-jihadist centers, sect and community circles. This step is meaningful to the extent that it is seen as for the same purpose with the steps of "transforming Hagia Sophia into a mosque" and leaving the "Istanbul Convention".

As a matter of fact, while this initiative of the government could not find significant support even among the AKP base, Hizbullah's party, HÜDA PAR, was enthusiastically welcomed by the writers of the Akit, sect and community circles, and jihadist circles!

This shows that the AKP-Erdogan government has brought the pandemic to the exploitation of the pandemic in the realization of its goals, to the intervention in the lifestyle of the people.
