The trial of the suspects at large of October 10 massacre, taking place during the days that the weapons Turkey sent to jihad organizations in Syria were discussed, demonstrated again to the naked eye how ISIS was freely moving along the border. Speaking at the trial where the women whose partners fought in the ranks of ISIS were questioned, Merve Dundar told the court how she joined ISIS, and about her close relations with those organized massacres in Turkey. Testifying that she lived in Syria for 7 years, it came out as a result that Dundar was released one month after she came to Turkey. Explaining that She stayed in Carablus for 48 days and her statement was taken there, Dundar said she was released on Feb 28, 2020 after she was arrested in January 2020. Continuing to be free in Turkey, but explaining that she has a court case in Germany, Dundar stated that the police, going to her family’s residence, asked the family about her.

During the trial, the partners who lived in Syria with  the suspects of October 10 massacre, were heard as witnesses.

INTERFERENCE BY HEAD JUDGE

Hulya Yildiz, the partner of Savas Yildiz allegedly a prisoner of PYD (Party of Democratic Unity), and the perpetrator of the attacks on the Adana and Mersin buildings of  HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party), said that they went to Tabqa after crossing to Syria from Carablus during the summer of 2015. Yildiz claimed that she earned the money, by washing the laundry of Russians, that she had to give to the human traffickers in order to get out of El Hol camp where she was held as a captive of PKK after she left Tabqa. When asked what happened after Syria, interfering with the questioning,  the head judge warned Yildiz that she may not have to answer the questions about her husband.

REACTION OF THE TRIAL AUDIENCE TO THE HEAD JUDGE

Zohre Tedik, mother of Korkmaz Tedik, EMEP (Party of Labour) Executive member who lost his life in the October 10 massacre, reacting to the court’s head judge, said “Mr Judge, I lost my son to the massacre. You tell the witness that she does not have to talk while she chooses to talk. Why are you preventing her from speaking? Is it for the facts not to emerge?”

“WE WERE BRINGING HELP AND SUPPORT TO SYRIA”

Suspect Kasim Dere’s wife, Serpil Dere told that she went to Syria in the May of 2015. However, upon Lawyer Senem Doganoglu reminded her that she had gone to Syria once before in 2013, accepting it, Dere said that she went there for providing help, that her husband knew in whose name they provided help, but that she did not know anybody. When asked why she had not been re-married for 4 years like other women after her husband died in 2016, Dere defensively said she did not have any hierarchical privilege. When asked about that she provided training for women in Adiyaman, she refused it. She said that she had known of the suspects, Walentina Slobodjanjuk (aka Russian Ayse), Mehmet Taser, Merve Dundar, and Aysenur Inci. Dere said that her husband had never been taken into custody after he returned from Afghanistan.

“WE WENT TO SYRIA TWO DAYS AFTER WE GOT MARRIED”

Merve Dundar, wife of Mahmut Gazi Dundar who is the brother of the suspect Omer Gazi Dundar, told that they got married in 2013. Stating that she started doing a research when her uncle, living in Germany, died in Syria, Dundar said that they went to Syria two days after she got married to Mahmut Gazi Dundar whom she had met over the internet. Dundar said that Kasim Dere became the witness for the marriage, and that Mustafa Dokumaci performed the marriage.

FASTING DINNER AT THE HOME OF LIVE BOMBS”

Telling the court that there were many Turks in Tabqa, Merve Dundar said that she knew  Walentina Slobodjanjuk, Muhammed Zana Alkan, Ahmet Gunes, Aysenur İnci, Nusret Yilmaz, Cebrail Kaya, Kasim Dere, Mustafa Delibaslar. In addition, Dundar told the court that they went for fasting dinner to the house in Adiyaman of Yunus Emre and Abdurrahman Alagoz, the live bomb brothers of October and Suruc Massacres.

“MEDICAL TREATMENT IN TURKEY”

Dundar, explaining to the court that she went to hospitals in 2014 once in Antep with her own identity, and in Elazig with somebody else’s identity, for medical treatment, said that she stayed in a camp in Iraq for 10 months after living in different cities in Syria.

“POLICE IS SEARCHING FOR HER IN GERMANY”

Once arrested in January 2020, Dundar said that she was released from the prison on February 28, 2020, and that she is wanted in Germany, and that the police asked her family where about of her.

PLAINTIFF LAWYERS REQUESTED THE COURT HEAR OTHER WIVES TOO”

Lawyer Senem Doganoglu, stating that they discovered the details about the suspects  with the information within the statements of the witnesses,  requested the court hear Nesibe Durmaz, wife of Yunus Durmaz and that his file be called to the court. Requesting the court take into account of hearing the wives and also the relatives of the other suspects and their court cases, Doganoglu, said that the developments of Turkey’s internal and external politics affect also the development of this case.

Bringing up the DNA samples taken from  the families of the ISIS suspects day after the October 10 massacre, Lawyer Gulsah Kaya requested that the information in the possession of MIT (National Intelligence Agency) and intelligence organizations be submitted to the court.

COURT DECIDED TO HEAR TWO WITNESSES

The court made the decision placing a  request for the records of hearing in communication system of Gaziantep 2st High Penal Court, rejecting the hearing of a number of suspects and the investigators who determined the negligence of public servants in preventing the massacre; rejecting the request for requiring FCIUD (Financial Crimes Investigation Unit Directorate) report about the suspects at large and the victims; hearing as witness Mahmut Kasim Kurt who Ilhami Bali of ISIS and Kuteybe Hammet, accused of selling information to to intelligence organizations related to ISIS, met along the border; and holding the next trial session on September 03, 2021.
