Bogazici University Rector Melih Bulu dismissed by Erdogan

Appointed as the Rector of Bogazici University by the decision of President Tayyip Erdogan, former AKP deputy candidate Prof. Dr. Melih Bulu was dismissed from his position as rector of Bogazici University, again with Erdogan's decision.

HE MANAGED TO STAY IN OFFICE FOR 195 DAYS

Prof. Dr. Melih Bulu was appointed as the Rector of Bogazici University with the decree of Erdogan published in the Official Gazette on January 2, 2021. Bulu was dismissed after 195 days in accordance with the Higher Education Law No. 2547 and the Presidential Decree No. 3. No appointment was made to replace Bulu.

The decision was published in the Official Gazette.

UNIVERSITY WAS RESISTING

After Bulu's appointment, students and academics of Bogazici University organized protests and demonstrations. The Bosphorus Resistance, which was said that it “won’t last for 6 months", had been going on for more than 6 months. The vigil of the academics continued every day in front of the rectorate.

Presidential decree dated 14. 7. 2021, under which Recep Tayyip Erdogan President signed:

Verdict: 2021/360

Bogazici University Rector Prof. Dr. Melih BULU was dismissed in accordance with the additional article 1 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547 and article 2 of the Presidential Decree No. 3.”

Then, the following was shared with the hashtag of Bogazici Resistance (@budirenisi):

“The trustee appointed at midnight was dismissed by a midnight decision. We are here until all our demands, which we repeated during our resistance, are met and trustee leave. #AllRecipienntsWillGo”

“The dismissal of a puppet appointed at midnight, at another midnight, does not represent an achievement, but only the crisis of inability to govern and the incapacity of the palace!”

“We repeat our demands: We will continue the struggle mode determinedly until the election for the rectorate including all compenents is made, the BULGBTİ+ Club is reopened and our other democratic demands are met!”

In the afternoon of the same day, Bulu’s helper, Naci Inci was appointed as rectorate. Students demand that he resigns for collaboration with Bulu. (EVRENSEL DAILY)
