After Sakarya University removed the statement regarding “no discrimination on gender, ethnic identity and sexual orientation" from the Hippocratic Oath, Inonu university took similar steps.
Targeting the oath with the words "heresy", Inonu University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kizilay said that "in order to protect the values of society and family, the oath texts will be read to graduate students after the approval of the university senate".
At the graduation ceremony of Sakarya University Faculty of Medicine, the section stating that "gender, ethnic identity and sexual orientation cannot be discriminated against" was removed from the "Hippocrates Oath" that young physicians read before starting their profession. Yeni Akit announced in its news yesterday that the Hippocratic Oath has been changed at Inonu University as well. In the news of Yeni Akit, Inonu University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kizilay said, "The issue that we oppose and do not accept is the emphasis on 'sexual orientation', which is against our society and family values. When we say, 'Physicians will take care of their patients without any discrimination', the text suggested by the Physicians' Union says, 'They will not discriminate in such and such'. they count them all one by one on the ground. In fact, their ideological thoughts are conveyed on the oath. For me, I believe that there is a situation beyond being innocent." Kızılay said, “As the rector of Inonu University, the sensitivity of me and my fellow administrators is the preservation of the values of our society, Islamic values and the family structure of our country. “We will apply everything that needs to be done with precision in all areas under our authority.”
