Arcelik, which has a total of 26 factories on three continents, increased its profits by 81 per cent to more than 3.5 billion liras in the last 12 months, while the net wages of the MESS-contract workers at Arçelik in Turkey increased by only about 15 per cent.

When Arcelik's profit of 1 billion 160 million liras made in the last 3 months of 2020 is added to the profit of 2 billion 358 million liras made in the first 9 months of 2021, the profits made by the company in the last 12 months amount to 3 billion 518 million liras. Arcelik's profits in the preceding 12 months amounted to 1 billion 942 million liras.

WORKERS DOOMED TO BE PAID ACCORDING TO OFFICIAL INFLATION NUMBERS

The wage increase that workers received in the last 12 months was limited to 5.49 percent for the first 6 months and 9.60 percent for the second 6 months.  The wages of a worker, who is supposed to have received 3,000 liras before the third and fourth 6-month pay rises with the MESS [Metal Goods Manufacturers Union] contract, increased to 3,164 liras and then to 3,467 liras with those two rises. Thus, the total wage increase received by a worker, who is supposed to have received a salary of 3 thousand liras before, has been 15.15% in the last year.

Even if the worker in question had received a one-time increase proportional to Arcelik's profits, rather than at the official inflation rate calculated by TUIK (Turkish Statistical Institute), their wage would have increased from 3 thousand liras to 5,430 liras.

ARCELIK'S PROFIT INCREASED BY 38 PERCENT IN THE FIRST 9 MONTHS OF 2021

Arcelik announced its balance sheet for the third quarter of 2021. Arcelik increased its profit by 38 percent in the first 9 months of 2021 compared to the first 9 months of the previous year. The company's total profit for the 9 months was 2 billion 358 thousand liras. In the first 9 months of 2020, Arcelik's total profit was 1 billion 709 million liras. The company's gross profit increased by 56 percent in 9 months.

ARÇELIK GROUP'S TURNOVER INCREASED BY 65 PERCENT

Arcelik's consolidated net turnover increased by 65.8 percent compared to the same period last year to 45.7 billion Turkish liras. Apart from the white goods product group, sales of all major product groups, including consumer electronics, small household appliances and air conditioning and ventilation, increased. The share of consolidated foreign sales in total consolidated sales was 67.4 percent. Overseas sales rose by 76.7% compared to the same period last year.

PRODUCTION INCREASED

The total number of white goods produced rose by 32 percent to 18,933,000 items during this period. The total number of flat-screen television productions was 1144.

1.5 BILLION LIRA INVESTMENT

The company also increased investments in the first nine months of the year. Arcelik, which invested 947 million liras in the same period last year, rose its investments to 1.5 billion liras in the same period of this year.

Arcelik has 12 factories in Eskisehir, Istanbul-Tuzla, Tekirdag-Cerkezkoy, Bolu, Ankara and Manisa in Turkey. Overseas, it has production in Romania, Russia, South Africa, Thailand, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Thailand and China.
