Republican People's Party (CHP) Istanbul MP Sezgin Tanrıkulu announced the September report on rights violations. According to the report, 209 people's right to life was violated in September, 224 were subjected to torture and ill-treatment in prisons, while 9 journalists were detained and 4 journalists were arrested for expressing their opinions. Four journalists were detained in September, while four journalists were attacked, the report said per freedom of thought and expression. Twelve journalists were investigated for expressing the opinion. "However, it should not be forgotten that there are journalists who were detained for short periods of time during political gatherings and demonstrations," Tanrıkulu states in his report.

According to the report, there were three deaths in September, including a child, in extrajudicial killings and random shootings, while three people died in prisons. Three children were killed in incidents caused by military police vehicles, the report said, adding that there were 26 murders of women and 175 workplace deaths.

"TORTURE AND ILL TREATMENT"

In September, at least twenty-two people were subjected to physical/psychological violence in prisons, sent to another prison against their will, denied health rights, and were denied nutrition, beds, hot water, communication rights, says the report.

In September, three mayors, lawmakers and party leaders were arrested against freedom of organisation, as the report states that this figure is far below the real number because it is not possible to determine how many people were detained in many protests, noting that 16 press briefings were interfered in September, two people were arrested and 251 people were detained.
