7.7 magnitude earthquake in Maras | Buildings collapsed in many provinces, there are reports of loss of life and injuries

A 7.7 magnitude earthquake occurred in Maraş. The buildings collapsed due to the earthquake, which was also felt in neighbouring provinces, and there are reports of loss of life and injuries.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 occurred in Pazarcık district of Kahramanmaraş. According to the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), the earthquake occurred at 4.17 pm in Pazarcık district of Kahramanmaraş. 

There is also information that buildings collapsed due to the earthquake in neighbouring provinces and that there was loss of life and property. Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu announced that a level 4 alert was issued, including international assistance. 

In addition to Maraş, the earthquake was felt in Antep, Malatya, Batman, Bingöl, Elazığ, Urfa, Kilis, Diyarbakır, Mardin, Siirt, Sivas, Şırnak, Van, Muş, Bitlis, Hakkari, Adana, Osmaniye and Hatay. 

Some buildings collapsed in Maraş, Kilis, Diyarbakır, Adana, Osmaniye, Antep, Urfa, Malatya and Hatay due to the earthquake. Crisis desks were established under the coordination of governorships in the regional provinces where tremors were felt from time to time. Search and rescue operations were initiated in the areas where collapsed buildings were located. (EVRENSEL DAILY)
