Labour Party (EMEP) announced its election decision. Stating that the negotiations with the components of the Labour and Freedom Alliance with the method of vacating the field and the multi-party-single list formula failed to reach a result, the party announced that it will enter the elections with its own candidates from the Green Left Party lists.

In the statement made by the General Executive Board of EMEP, it was emphasised that the decision was taken "for the future, development and strengthening of the Labour and Freedom Alliance" and "for the representation of the forces in favour of labour, peace and democracy, especially the working class, in the parliament".

The full statement of the EMEP is as follows:

"We are going through one of the most critical elections in the history of Turkey.

Defeating the one-man rule and advancing the struggle of the exploited and oppressed masses of the people is the current and urgent goal of our party. For this, it continues to be our priority to strengthen the joint struggle work we carry out with the Labour and Freedom Alliance.

With this understanding and attitude, as EMEP, we continue our preparatory work to participate in the elections to be held on 14 May 2023 as a part of the Labour and Freedom Alliance.

We have emphasised on every occasion so far that it would be important for the parties with electoral qualifications to enter the elections with the method of vacating the field and the multi-party-single list formula in order for our alliance to come out of the elections strong. We have also stated that this method would be beneficial in terms of new participation and electoral collaborations for the expansion and strengthening of our alliance.

However, we could not reach this conclusion in our meetings with the components of our alliance and friendly forces.

At this point, our party; taking into account the concrete political conditions and the needs of our people's struggle for their demands:

1- The future, development and strengthening of the Labour and Freedom Alliance,

2- For the representation of the forces in favour of labour, peace and democracy, especially the working class, in the parliament,

has decided to participate in the elections with its own candidates from the Green Left Party lists.
