DİSK, KESK, TMMOB, TTB, TDB announced the Istanbul programme for 1st May with the slogan "Labour is Ours, Future is Ours". Calling all labourers to Maltepe rally area on May Day 2023, labour organisations distributed leaflets in Beşiktaş square after their press statement.

Confederation of Progressive Trade Unions (DISK), Confederation of Public Employees' Trade Unions (KESK), Turkish Medical Association (TTB), Turkish Dental Association (TDB) made a joint statement on May 1st, the International Day of Unity, Struggle and Solidarity of the Working Class. In the statement, it was stated that "We will be shoulder to shoulder all over Turkey on 1st May Unity and Solidarity Day" and all workers were called to be at Maltepe rally area on 1 May. 

Speaking at the statement made in Beşiktaş Square, DISK Chair Arzu Çerkezoğlu said: "May Day 2023 will take place in an extremely important historical period for our country. We unite our hopes and enthusiasm with our class brothers and sisters all over the world on 1st May. Despite all kinds of oppression and bans in our country, 1st May has a very strong history in our country. Today, both in our country and in the world, we need more than ever the unity, struggle and solidarity of the working class, labourers, youth, women, those who produce all the beauties of this country and the world. In this period when the current system is completely bankrupt and cannot promise anything to the working class and all the peoples of the world, yes, this voice, this promise, the will that will unite in the squares of 1st May is extremely important." Stating that May Day 2023 will be a new beginning, Çerkezoğlu said, "We call on all those whom we have been trying to organise all over Turkey and unite our strength and will to the May Day squares." Çerkezoğlu called on all the people of Istanbul to meet at Maltepe Square, the May 1st square.

Türk-İş announced that they will hold a 1st May celebration in Adana. Hak-İş will also hold a symbolic 1st May celebration in Maraş, which eas the centre of eartquakes in february. (EVRENSEL DAILY)
