We have lost Erol Büyükkaraca
Erol Büyükkaraca, who left an indelible mark with his long struggle for the ideal of a classless world without exploitation, has died in Germany. Büyükkaraca will be sent on his final journey in Istanbul on 26 January.

Erol Büyükkaraca, who left an indelible mark with his long struggle for the ideal of a world without classless exploitation, died in Frankfurt, Germany, where he was being treated.
Erol Büyükkaraca, who died in the hospital where he was being treated for a serious illness, will be sent back to his home country Turkey by his friends and comrades with a ceremony in Frankfurt on Saturday 25 January. Büyükkaraca will be buried in Istanbul on Sunday 26 January.
Erol Büyükkaraca, who dedicated his whole life and energy to the struggle and organisation of the working class, was one of the exemplary fighters for the working class cause in the period of half a century from the second half of the 70s to the Labour Party (EMEP).
BIOGRAPHY OF AN EXEMPLARY REVOLUTIONARY
Born on 26 September 1960 in the Seyitgazi-Yarbasan village of Eskişehir, Erol Büyükkaraca was the third of five children in a poor Turkmen family. His father was a construction worker. During his high school years, he worked as a technician for a dentist. In 1977 he enrolled at Karadeniz Technical University. He was arrested several times while taking part in the student youth struggle. During this period, he met THKO members and participated in the administration of the Trabzon Patriotic Revolutionary Youth Association. Erol Büyükkaraca, who met Mustafa Şefik, one of the militant leaders of the YDGF, also took part as a delegate in the YDGF congress that was held under the conditions of martial law. In April 1981, as a result of the mass arrests and detentions after the September 12 junta came to power, he was arrested in the TDKP case and subjected to severe torture. Büyükkaraca resisted torture by the police and in prison and remained in prison until 1983.
After his release, he worked as a labourer in a a printing house. During the period of rebuilding his organisation, in which he was a determined militant, he took responsibility and initiative in the front line with his exemplary attitude, which showed his militant personality in the face of various attacks on the idea of "organisation, struggle and socialism".
From the foundation of Labour Party until today, Erol Büyükkaraca has worked for the development of the party's struggle of the working class and oppressed masses against capital and reaction by taking responsibility in every field of activity. He was unifying, self-sacrificing and sharing. Since his youth, he considered working for the development and strengthening of the revolutionary struggle and organisation as the priority of his life. Throughout his life, which was marked by difficult conditions and hard periods, he was an exemplary revolutionary, who integrated his life-long struggle with science, art, literature, etc. (EVRENSEL DAILY)
