Pianist Davide Martello, known for his concert in Taksim during the Gezi Resistance, announced on his Instagram account that he was deported. Martello, whose piano was confiscated and detained before his recital in Kadıköy Mehmet Ayvalıtaş Square, was deported.
Martello made a post on his Instagram account with the title ‘Finally I am back in the democratic world’.
In his post, Martello said that during the confiscation of his piano, the police forced him to make a post saying ‘I will not be able to play tonight’.
Stating that the trailer of his vehicle was damaged, pianist Martello used the following expressions:
‘While I was there, they tried to separate my trailer from my car. They did not succeed, but in the process they damaged the hydraulic brake system of my trailer. I didn't notice it at first, but when I arrived at the Bulgarian border, I realised that the brake system was broken and the trailer's tyres were overheating. During the journey from Kadikoy to Bulgaria, I felt that my car was having difficulty pulling the trailer. Then a well-meaning Bulgarian guard at the border noticed this and told me about it.’
Martello also said that he was followed by plainclothes police officers from Kadikoy to the Bulgarian border.
‘They gave me a strange fine for the solar panels on my trailer (to charge my e-piano) and I didn't even pay it. I think they were trying to find an excuse to deport me,’ Martello said. (EVRENSEL DAILY)
