Erdogan had iftar with workers despite the public holiday and "complete closure"

President Erdogan visited the workers who had to work despite the May Day being a public holiday and the declared "full closure" to have iftar with them.

President Tayyip Erdogan visited the workers who were forced to work despite the official holiday of May 1, the International Day of Unity, Struggle and Solidarity of the Working Class, and the announced "complete closure" and held an iftar dinner with them. Erdogan made statements to journalists after the iftar program, where he met with workers at a factory operating in Tuzla.

"During my Prime Ministry, we declared May 1st as Labour and Solidarity Day. This is the greatest proof of our solidarity with our worker brothers and sisters. But, unfortunately, some extreme terrorist groups, who unfortunately turn this day into different actions, are trying to make this beautiful day meaningless,” said Erdogan, claiming that those who want to exploit the worker's hard work are those who want to hold a rally on May 1.

Erdogan said: "Unfortunately, this is not only happening in Turkey, you’ve seen what the streets of Paris have become today. The windows and frames of all the stores were burned down and destroyed. The same things were going on here, but there is no longer an opportunity and we will not give the opportunity. In other words, we will not give the opportunity in our country to those who want to exploit the sacred sweat of our workers. We will not give an opportunity to those who try to turn a day dominated by peace and turn it into this state. Because we want to celebrate today as a holiday for the workers. Thank God, according to the latest information I have received, there have been no serious incidents in Turkey today. It is our hope that we continue this day in the same way. All my brothers and sisters, I say happy Labour Day, and congratulations, may Allah bring us many more of these days.(EVRENSEL DAILY)
