According to data presented by Turkish Statistical Institute, broadly defined unemployment was at 21.9 in September

According to data given by TÜİK, the idle labour rate (broadly defined unemployment) consisting of underemployed, potential workforce and unemployed increased by 0.2 percentage points to 21.9 percent in September from the previous month.

Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), who is known for showing the rate of inflation twice as low as the actual figure and the rate of growth twice as more, has announced its labour statistics for September 2021.

Accordingly, the idle labour rate (broadly defined unemployment) consisting of underemployed, potential labour force and unemployed increased by 0.2 percentage points to 21.9 percent in September from the previous month.

TÜİK, announced the seasonally adjusted "unemployment rate" at 11.5 percent, down 0.3 percentage points from the previous month.

According to the statement, the number of unemployed people aged 15 and older in Turkey decreased by 70,000 people in September 2021 compared to the previous month to 3,794,000 people.

EMPLOYMENT RATE 45.8 PERCENT

The number of people in employment increased by 426,000 during September compared to the previous month to 29,254,000 people and the employment rate increased by 0.6 percentage points to 45.8 percent.

YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT 21.5 PERCENT

The youth unemployment rate, which covers the 15-24 age group, decreased by 0.9 percentage points from the previous month to 21.5 percent and the employment rate increased by 0.3 percentage points to 32.7 percent. The labour force participation rate in this age group decreased by 0.1 percentage points compared to the previous month to 41.7 percent.

The number of people employed in September increased by 21,000 people in the agricultural sector, 218,000 in the industrial sector, 13,000 in the construction sector and 175,000 in the service sector compared to the previous month. 17.0% of those employed were in agriculture, 21.9% in industry, 6.2% in construction and 54.9% in the service sector.

BROADLY DEFINED UNEMPLOYMENT IS AT 21.9 PERCENT

The idle work force rate, which covers time dependent underemployed, potential workforce and unemployed, rose 0,2 points in comparison to the previous month to 21.9 percent.

 The integrated rate of time-dependent underemployed and the unemployed was 15.2 percent, while the integrated rate of the potential workforce and unemployed stood at 18.5 percent.

AGRICULTURA REGISTRATION RATE WAS AT 18.6

In September, the proportion of unregistered employees showing the share of employees without being affiliated with the social security organization decreased by 2.0 percentage points compared to the same month of the previous year to 30.5 percent. The proportion of informal employees in the non-agricultural sector decreased by 1.9 percentage points compared to the same month of the previous year to 18.6 percent. (EVRENSEL DAILY)
