Aysel Tuğluk released from Kobane Case, will continue to be detained due to another case

Kurdish politician Aysel Tuğluk's release was decided in the Kobane Case. But Tuğluk's detention will continue due to another case despite her dementia diagnosis.

The 15th hearing of the Kobane Case, in which 108 people, 21 of whom are arrested, including former co-chairs of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) and members of the Central Executive Committee (MYK) are on trial for the protests that took place on 6-8 October 2014 in response to ISIS attacks on Kobane, was held on its 8th day at Sincan Prison Campus.

During the hearing held on Friday, the court announced its interim decision at midnight. The court ruled for the release of Aysel Tuğluk who was diagnosed with dementia.

DETENTION WILL CONTINUE

Tuğluk, who was released from the Kobane Case, will continue to be detained due to another case.

NOT RELEASED FOR MORE THAN 500 DAYS DESPITE HER DEMENTIA

Diagnosed with dementia on 15 March 2021, Aysel Tuğluk has been kept in High Security Prison for more than 5 years. Tuğluk has not been released for more than 500 days despite her dementia diagnosis. (EVRENSEL DAILY)
